*WESTLEY RICHARDS OVUNDO GAME GUN. SN T8629. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 28″ Barrels are engraved “Westley Richards & Co. London” and “Ovundo” on solid concave game rib. Left side rib under forend is engraved “Ovundo System” and “Reg.d no. 354045/ 1913”. Bottoms of bbl bolsters have Birmingham nitro proofs for 1-1/8 oz of shot with secondary stamp “2-5/8″”. Bottom of bottom bbl is stamped with “H.L” and SN. Boxlock action features Westley Richards pivoting top lever which actuates dual locking bolts, automatic safety (“Safe” inlaid in gold), and Westley Richards single selective trigger with “U” and “O” inlaid in gold at either end of slide. Water table is marked with Birmingham proofs and patent information for trigger and ovundo system. Action and floorplate are engraved with large open shaded scroll at about 50% coverage with “Westley Richards & Co.” on either side. Top of action is engraved “Westley Richards Patent One Trigger” in front of top lever. Small bow trigger guard has scroll engraving on bow, and SN on grip. Lightly streaked and figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/16″ over ribbed horn buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at 22 LPI with line border. Matching forend has Deeley release. Bore diameter: top -.737, bottom -.734. Bore restrictions: top -.008, bottom -.020. Wall thickness: top -.030, bottom -.029. Drop at heel: 2-5/16″, drop at comb: 1-3/4″. Weight: 6 lbs. 11 oz, LOP 14-1/16″. CONDITION: Good. Bbls retain most of an old re-black, over some pin-prick pitting which was not polished out. Action is mostly pewter gray with traces of case hardening color in protected areas. Floorplate, trigger guard, and top lever have been re-blued. That blue shows considerable silvering, and engraving is washed. Buttstock shows most of an old oil refinish, sharp edges slightly rounded. Checkering has been re-cut. Newly made forend wood matches well. Stock escutcheon and latch show considerable wear. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Trigger works. Bores are excellent with very slight dent on bottom bbl about 4″ in front of forend tip. An affordable example of this rugged classic. 4-39976 MGM11 (5,000-10,000)
