*RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 12 PIGEON GRADE #5 ENGRAVED WITH GOLD CASED 3 BARREL SET. SN Y2026918. Cal. 12ga, 26″, 28″ & 30″ bbls, serrated vent rib with white front and silver center sighting beads, IMP.CYL, MOD, FULL chokes, 2-3/4″ chambers. Bbls are marked on left side “WINCHESTER(in gold)MODEL 12 – 12GA. 2-3/4 CHAM. / MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL / CHOKE”. Sides of each bbl has 1-1/4″ of scroll engraving. Bbl extension has some minor scroll engraving and standing pigeon. Receiver with duck bill rib extension is engraved in 12-5 pattern with gold grouse in flight and 2 gold pointers on left side in wooded scene surrounded by flowing foliate scroll. Right side has 4 gold ducks in flight over marsh with flowing foliate arabesque scroll. Mounted with highly figured walnut, A-carved checkered pistol grip, Winchester metal grip cap, Winchester hard rubber buttplate, A-carved checkered beavertail forends. Stock measurements are: Drop at heel: 2-9/16″, Drop at comb: 1-1/2″, LOP 13-7/8″. Gun is accompanied with a U.S. Repeating Arms Company letter dated August 28, 1985 identifying gun by serial number and certifying that it is one of 45 Model 12 Pigeon Grade 3-Bbl Sets to be assembled in the Model 21 Custom Shop at U.S. Repeating Arms Company in New Haven, Connecticut. It goes on to state that this Pigeon Grade Model 12 Set has been carefully hand-engraved, gold inlaid and equipped with full Fancy Hand-Carved American Walnut stock and forend. Letter is signed “Richard M. Pelton, President & C.E.O.” Gun is accompanied by large walnut display case with burgundy interior French-fitted for gun and two spare bbls. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Gun appears test-fired only since manufactured. All surfaces retain 99-100% of their factory orig finish. A couple of minor handling marks and faint rub marks from slides moving back and forth. Mechanics are crisp with bright shiny bores in all bbls. Walnut case is equally new with just a couple of minor scratches. 4-40561 BDT153 (7,500-12,500)
