*WILLIAM POWELL AND SON SIDELOCK EJECTOR LIGHT GAME GUN WITH CASE. SN 13238. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 26″ Chopper lump barrels are engraved “William Powell & Son 35-37. Carrs Lane. Birmingham.” on narrow concave game rib. Rear of rib has scroll engraving with “2” inlaid in gold. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with “16002”. Bbl flats have 1981 Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers at .729. Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences, and features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), and double triggers. Action and lockplates have about 90% coverage of well executed typical English bouquet and scroll with “William Powell & Son” engraved on each lockplate. Fences have stylized semi-relief oak leaf engraving with shaded background. Scroll engraved trigger guard has SN 13238 on tang. Scroll engraved top lever has “2” inlaid in gold. Nicely marbled and slightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/16″ over checkered wood butt, and features drop points, gold oval engraved “J.S.P.”, and 22 LPI point pattern checkering with mullered borders. Matching splinter forend has Anson release, “2” inlaid in gold on tip, and SN on iron. Bore diameter: left -.729, right -.728. Bore restrictions: left -.015, right -.004. Wall thickness: left -.028, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs. 0 oz, LOP 14-1/16″. Leather case with brass corners has initials “J.S.P.” embossed on lid. Interior is lined in red cloth, with paper William Powell & Son label, and contains 2-pc wooden cleaning rod with brushes and mops, square unmarked oil bottle, a pair of Crane & Crane 12 ga. snap caps, and the key. CONDITION: Excellent, as refurbished. Barrels retain nearly all of a London quality black. Action and lockplates have 98% re-case color, with some very light pitting under color and lacquer, silvered slightly on edges of fences and beads. Stocks retain virtually all of a fine oil rubbed finish with a few light marks and dings. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Bores are fine, with some light striations and frosting. Case leather is excellent with a few marks and scuffs. Interior cloth is excellent with a few light compressions and discoloration from contact with gun. Label is excellent with a few minor edge tears. Accessories are fine.
