*RARE CASED WINCHESTER MODEL 37 LINE THROWING GUN. Cal. 45-70 Blank. Very rare Model 37 line throwing gun with 14-1/8″ heavy smooth bore bbl that has usual Winchester trademark markings plus “LINE GUN-45-70 BLANK ONLY-” in the usual place for caliber marking. Top of the bbl is marked “BRIDGER” and “NAVAL CO.”. It is mounted with nicely figured, uncheckered American walnut with heavy stepped forearm and pistol grip stock with Winchester black composition buttplate. The bbl and forearm are mounted with a cast aluminum line canister that has a brass plate on the left side marked “NAVAL COMPANY/DOYLESTOWN, PA.”. Accompanied by its original red fiber, metal-reinforced carrying case, bracketed in the bottom for the rifle with line canister attached, an empty line container, two line winding spindles, a box of 14 fired cases and a partial box of 9 loaded rounds. Also included is a carton of cleaning patches, an empty bottle of Hoppe’s #9 and a can of Hoppe’s gun oil. Inside the lid are canvas loops which contain two aluminum darts and two brass darts along with a brass cleaning rod. Also accompanying is a directions sheet along with two sheets of history about the Model 37. CONDITION: Rifle and attached line canister are extremely fine plus with the rifle probably being unfired.Overall retains virtually all of its original factory finish with a couple of minor bruises on the stock and a small scratch on the bbl. Case has a small break in the bbl end, otherwise is intact and very fine with light soil. Accessories are fine. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. 4-40093 JR181 (3,500-5,500)
