*RARE WALTHER MODEL 6 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 591. Cal. 9 mm. Blued finish with 4-3/4″ enclosed bbl, raised matted rib with fixed sights and mounted with Walther logo checkered pressed horn grips. Slide has usual Walther markings with a Walther banner on left side and it has a swinging thumb safety on left rear side of frame. Slide & bbl have crown “N” proofs. Accompanied by an orig machined P38-sized magazine. This was the largest Walther Pocket pistol with only about 1,000-1,500 produced in the period 1915-1918. Given its substantially larger size, war time production and post-war competition from military surplus arms, it never had much of a chance to succeed. It apparently was an extremely well made and nicely finished pistol but probably rather expensive to produce as compared to its contemporaries. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Overall retains 92-93% dull orig blue with muzzle end and sharp edge wear and mottled front & back straps. Grips are sound with small bug bite on bottom right edge. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-39275 JR273 (6,500-9,500)
