REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK LONG RANGE CREEDMOOR RIFLE. SN 5802. Cal 45. Believed to be 4570 changed from orig 44-100. 32-3/4″ part oct bbl with windage adjustable and spirit level front sight, no rear seat, tang-mounted 3″ peep sight and heel mounted base. Bbl is marked on top flat “E Remington & Sons Ilion. N.Y.” Top flat has filler screws for scope bases holes that are about 7-1/4″ apart center to center. Bottom of bbl is hand stamped with a small “45” and original stampings are “44 S 100”. Standard receiver mounted with nicely figured walnut uncheckered fore end with Schnabel metal tip insert. Checkered serpentine pistol grip with ebony insert. Smooth steel shot gun style butt plate. Inspection of gun reveals matching SN on bottom of bbl and inside of butt plate. There is a second dovetail cut in bottom of bbl. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 40-50% orig bbl thinning and blending with patina on round portion and sharp edge wear and thinning on oct. Receiver retains 30-40% fading case colors blending with silver patina. Stock is solid with good checkering nicks and dings. A notch cut in flute of comb for tang sight clearance and retains most of a fine hand worn patina finish. Rear of stock is mounted with base for Creedmoor style shooting. Steel butt plate is silver and brown patina mixed. Fore end is solid with minor nicks and bruises and carries a fine hand worn patina finish. Mechanics are crisp with a shiny bore. 4-35664 BDT297 (4,000-7,000)
