*WONDERFUL A. H. FOX STERLINGWORTH SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 359654. Cal. 16 ga. 28″ Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib with sgl silver sighting bead, 2-1/2″ chambers, choked FULL / FULL with dbl triggers & extractors. Standard receiver with “Sterlingworth” on both sides & zig zag border engraved. Mounted in straight grain American walnut with fiddleback. Checkered pistol grip with hard rubber grip cap, a solid red “Noshoc” pad & standard checkered splinter forend. Chamber marks on bbl are “Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel” on right and “Made By A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA. U.S.A.” on left. Bore diameter: left -.660, right -.662. Bore restrictions: left -.028, right -.028. Wall thickness: left -.031, right -.030. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight: 6 lbs. 5 oz. LOP 13-3/4″. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 90% orig blue with minor wear at muzzle & chamber area, and some faint thinning from carrying just forward of chamber & the usual light hunting scratches. Receiver has 70-75% strong orig case colors & silvery patina across the bottom. Trigger guard has 80-85% orig blue, thinning through grip area. Wood has normal amount of light hunting nicks & dings, a minor chip behind top tang and a few small areas of flaked finish. “Noshoc” pad is a vintage replacement. Forend is solid with a few minor nicks & dings & flaked finish. Gun is extremely tight with top lever to the right. Mechanics are crisp, with bright shiny bores. 4-35252 BDT8 (2,000-3,000)
