*OUTSTANDING PHILADELPHIA A. H. FOX STERLINGWORTH SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 260926. Cal. 20 ga. 26″ bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib with sgl silver sighting bead, 2-1/2″ chambers, choked CYL / IMP-CYL, dbl triggers & extractors. Mounted with nicely figured checkered pistol grip stock of American walnut with grip cap and checkered splinter forend, LOP 14-1/4″ over 1/2″ leather covered pad, bbl chamber area on right bbl marked “Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel”, left bbl marked “Made by A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA. U.S.A.”. The receiver has minimal border engraving and the name “Sterlingworth” on each side. Bore diameter: left -.622, right -.623. Bore restrictions: left -.010, right -.006. Wall thickness: left -.026, right -.024. Drop at heel: 3-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-7/8″. Weight: 5 lbs. 12 oz. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 97-98% orig blue with a few minor handling marks & a couple of minor nicks on the rib. Receiver has 75-80% orig vivid case colors with silvery patina on the forward half of the bottom of the receiver. Trigger guard retains 90% orig blue with some minor wear through grip area & sharp edges of the bow. Stock is sound with a minor chip behind the upper tang and a minor dent on the top left side of receiver & tang. Wood finish is a hand-rubbed oil with a pleasing hand-worn patina. Checkering is sharp & pointed, grip cap is fine, leather covered pad shows minor scuffing on edges. Mechanics are crisp and bores are bright & shiny. 4-35251 BDT1 (2,500-3,500)
