*WONDERFUL A. H. FOX CE GRADE SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 202065. Cal. 20 ga. 26″ Chromox Fluid Steel bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib with sgl silver sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, choked IMP-CYL / MOD with dbl triggers & ejectors. Chamber areas have 1-1/2″ wedge of scroll engraving. Right bbl is marked “CHROMOX FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL” and left “Made By A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA. U.S.A.”. The C grade receiver in standard pattern with foliate scroll, surrounding an oval with “Ansley H. Fox” & 2 quail on left and “Ansley H. Fox” & 2 woodcock on right. Circular scroll pattern around trigger plate screw & circle with pointing setter and hills in background on bottom of receiver. Trigger guard bow is engraved with initials “W.W.D.”. Mounted in dark “streaky” walnut with checkered side panels, checkered rounded pistol grip & squashed leather-face red pad. Checkered splinter forend with ebony tip insert. Bore diameter: left -.616, right -.624. Bore restrictions: left -.014, right -.011. Wall thickness: left -.028, right -.014. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 5 lbs. 10 oz. LOP 14-1/4″. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 90% orig blue with slight muzzle wear and the usual minor nicks & dings. Receiver retains 30-35% orig color with balance a silver hardening color. Trigger guard has 75-80% orig blue with thinning at edges & wear through grip area. Stock is sound with a minor chip at left side of trigger guard, minor crease in the rounded pistol grip; a few minor light nicks & dings; rear half is a lighter color than forward area due to a once-present slip-on pad. Forend is sound with a minor 1/2″ crack from forend iron, some characteristic hunting marks with slightly flat checkering & a nice hand-worn patina finish.
