*SCARCE J. P. SAUER 410 BOX LOCK EJECTOR RETAILED BY ABERCROMBIE & FITCH. SN 279218. Cal. 410. Double triggers. Automatic safety. 26″ Steel shoe lump bbls are stamped “Fluid- Steel- Krupp- Essen.” and “J.P. Sauer & Son. Suhl” on tops of both bbls. “Abercrombie & Fitch Co., New York, N.Y. U.S. Agents.” on the raised matted concave rib w/ cross bolt extension, and Sauer warrior logo stamped at breech. Bbl flats have German nitro proofs, date stamp “8/37”, “Made in Germany” and the Sauer SSU logo. Right bbl is stamped “Improv Cyl Bore” and the left, “Full Choke.” Ends of ejectors are stamped “For 3 Shells”. Bottom of left bbl is stamped w/ SN “279218”. Scalloped back box lock action has dual under lugs, Greener cross bolt third fastener, and side clips, and is engraved in 30-40% Germanic scroll w/ “J. P. Sauer & Son, Suhl” on both sides. “Safe” is relief engraved on top tang. Trigger guard has SN at grip. Nicely figured European walnut semi pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/8″ over ribbed hard rubber butt plate w/ Sauer SSU logo, featuring brass oval, w/ initials “B.S.K.” engraved, and 22 LPI checkering w/ double line borders. Long splinter forend has a Deeley release and horn tip, w/ checkering to match buttstock. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, Drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 5 lbs 4.5oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 90-95% orig rust blue w/ wear at muzzles, and thinning near forend. Action retains 40-50% case color, thinning to silver and brown. Trigger guard and top lever retain most of their original blue, silvering at edges from wear. Stocks retain most of orig oil finish w/ numerous handling marks and dings. Checkering is slightly worn and dirty. Screw slots are good w/ little evidence of use. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are slightly out of time. 4-35799 MGM92 (10,000-13,000)
