THOMAS BLAND DAMASCUS SIDE LOCK GAME GUN. SN 13013. Cal. 16 ga. Dbl trigger. Top lever. 28″ Dove-tailed Damascus bbls w/ dolls head extension, are marked “T. Bland & Sons, Strand, London” and have scroll engraving on the concave top rib. Bbl flats show orig black powder proofs and Birmingham nitro re-proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Bottoms of bbls are marked “T.B & S”, “B”, and SN “13013.” The action and lock plates are lightly scroll engraved w/ feather borders w/ pair of pheasants on left lock plate, and a pair of partridges on the right, as well as “T.Bland & Sons.” “Safe” is relief engraved in gold rectangle in front of the automatic safety. Tumbler ends have gold band cocking indicators. Trigger guard is engraved w/ a dog flushing grouse, and SN “13013”. Slightly figured English walnut semi pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/8″ over a checkered horn butt plate. There’s a vacant gold oval on the toe line and checkering is 18 LPI w/ mullered borders. The splinter forend has a Deeley and Edge patent release, a horn tip, and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.656, right -.659. Bore restrictions: left -000, right -000. Wall thickness: left -.033, right -.032. Drop at heel:3-1/8, drop at comb:1-7/8″. Weight:6 lbs 3oz. PROVENANCE: Certificate of Proof from the Birmingham Proof House. CONDITION: Good. Bbls retain 98% of a superlative re-brown. Bores are bright and shiny w/ a few minor striations and pits in front of chamber in right barrel. Action and lock plates are finished bright. Screw heads are heat blued and show use. Trigger guard, top lever, and safety button show 98% of a re-blue. Wood shows 98% of a refinish. Checkering has been re-cut, and feels sharp.
