W. W. GREENER FACILE PRINCEPS BOX LOCK WATER FOWLER WITH CASE. SN 30714. Cal. 10ga. 2-7/8″ Chambers. Double triggers. Non ejector. 30″ Dove-tailed Damascus bbls are marked “W.W. Greener. 68 Haymarket London. Winner at the London Gun Trials, 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879.” on the wide flat matted rib, as well as “Patent Treble Wedge Fast No. 3084” in a lozenge near the cross bolt extension. There are bands of nicely executed foliate scroll around the breech ends. The bottoms of the bbls have Birmingham black powder provisional and definitive proofs, and are marked “11 B” “12 M” and “Not for Ball.” SN “30714” (1884). Case hardened and scroll engraved box lock action is marked “W W Greener Patent no. 930” on the water table, and has “W. W. Greener in ribands on each side of the action. The non automatic side safe has “safe” and an arrow inlaid in gold. The trigger guard is engraved in matching scroll and the SN. The semi pistol grip English walnut buttstock measures 13-5/8″ over checkered horn butt plate. It has a vacant silver oval, inset horn drop points, and 22 LPI borderless checkering. Forend has a Deeley and Edge patent release, horn tip, and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.782, right -.781. Bore restrictions: left -.046, right -.051. Wall thickness: left -.046, right -.048. Drop at heel: 3-1/8″, drop at comb:2-1/8″ . Weight:8 lbs 13.4oz. The new pigskin leather leg o’ mutton case has brown moleskin interior. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 80-90% orig Damascus finish, thinning near breeches from handling. Bores are bright and shiny. Right bbl has a few pits near the breech. Small sharp ding on the right barrel 13-1/2″ from muzzle. Action retains 40-50% orig case color w/ balance turning silver. Action is tight and on face. Floor plate retains 80% charcoal blue. Trigger guard and top lever retain 50-60% of their charcoal blue. Stocks have 90% of their orig finish. Checkering is clean and relatively sharp. Case is as new. 4-33802 MGM23 (2,000-3,000)
