*ARMY AND NAVY LEE SPEED BOLT ACTION SPORTING RIFLE. SN 26935. Cal. .303 British. Tang safety. 24-1/2″ Round nitro proved bbl w/ sling eye, raised matted full length rib is engraved “Army & Navy. Co-operative Society Limd. London.” and “For Cordite Only”. Fitted w/ 3 folding, 1 standing express sight w/ platinum line leaves. Front being a ladder type for ranges out to 1000 yards. Front is transversally dove-tailed through the rib, has silver bead, and high ears to protect the bead. Action has some line and border engraving and is marked “Lee-Speed Patents”, “B.S.A. Co.”, “K 195.” Bottom of magazine has scroll engraving. Trigger guard is engraved w/ no. “26935” (ca 1899). B.S.A. Patent top tang safety is fitted. Dark slightly figured English walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14″ over trap steel butt plate w/ light scroll and border engraving and features vacant silver oval, sling eye, hard rubber grip cap, as well as 20 LPI checkering w/ mullered borders. Forend has a horn tip w/ point pattern checkering to match buttstock. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and action retain 80% blue. Bolt cover retains about 60% bright blue. Stocks have most of their oil finish. Bore is bright, strong rifling, w/ slight erosion in throat, some frosting toward muzzle. 4-35590 MGM64 (1,500-3,000)
