*RARE MODEL 1903 NATIONAL MATCH MILITARY RIFLE. SN 1405912. Cal. 30-06. Fine National Match rifle with 24″ star-gaged, tapered rnd bbl as indicated by a small star stamped at bottom of muzzle crown dated “1-38”. It has a Lyman 17A Globe front sight & 2,800 yard rear sight with a “P.J. O’HARE” blued steel rear sight cover. Right side of receiver bridge is mounted with a Lyman 48 peep sight with hunting knob that is probably a replacement for the orig Lyman 48S receiver sight. Bolt, receiver rails & follower are polished bright. Mounted in a Type C stock with full length handguard & split front band with bayonet lug & stacking swivel & a grooved middle band with sling swivel with corresponding sling loop in buttstock. Buttplate is checkered steel with trap containing a nickeled brass 1903 cleaning set with string pull through & a bronze bore brush in one end & an oiler in the other end. It has its orig milled trigger guard & floorplate. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Metal retains virtually all of a strong armory finish with only slight muzzle edge wear. Stock & handguard are sound with minor handling & use marks and retain a fine hand worn patina with visible cartouche on left wrist.
