*RARE AND UNUSUAL BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED A.H. FOX XE GRADE. SN 300246. Cal. 16 gauge fitted with 30″ Krupp fluid steel bbls that have dual red sighting beads, 2-3/4″ chambers, FULL/FULL chokes, ejectors, and double triggers. Bbls are engraved on right with, “Krupp Fluid, Steel Made By” and on left, “A.H. Fox Gun Co. Phila PA.” There is about a 1-1/2″ wedge of foliate scroll from breech on each bbl. This early XE grade receiver is in the usual XE pattern conceived by William Gough. Engraving consists of an oval on left side with “Ansley H. Fox” over two flying ducks, an oval with a fox on bottom, and an oval with “Ansley H. Fox” over two flying quail on right. The remainder of action and appended metal are engraved in the bold foliate scroll. Mounted with an outstanding piece of highly figured circassian walnut with checkered splinter forend with black tip insert, a blank circle around the engraved ejector button and a checkered round knob pistol grip stock with checkered side panels, 14-1/2″ over leather covered pad. Accompanied by a J.T. Callahan letter identifying this gun as a 16 gauge XE grade with 30″ FULL/FULL choke bbls. Stocked in walnut, Length of pull: 14-1/2″. Drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Receiver has 99% of it’s fine orig style restored case colors. Wood is sound with a minor hairline crack midway of left side at receiver, a few minor light handling marks and retains virtually all of it’s fine professionally restored finish. Forend has a minor hairline crack on right bottom corner and retains virtually all of it’s fine professionally restored finish. Mechanics are fine and bores are bright and shiny.
