*SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1903. Cal. 30-06. SN 1302115. This rifle is a very nice example of a transition from 03 to 03A1. From 1928 until 1932, 03’s were built in 3 variations. There were the National Matches, 03A1’s with C-stocks, or still available, but harder to come by, were the 03’s with finger grooved S-stocks. Most people opted for the 03A1 variation or the National Match; therefore the late 20’s/early 30’s vintage 03’s are rather scarce. This is a fine example retaining lots of condition. CONDITION: Metal of this gun retains better than 90% of blackish-greenish Parkerizing or oxidizing that the armory was known for in those days. Bbl is equipped with a sight hood. Bolt is a grayish-greenish Parkerizing and retains about 85-90% of its finish. “JFC” cartouche buttstock with finger grooves is in very good condition but has a fair amount of wear to the edges of the finger grooves. Buttplate retains approx. 50% finish with scattered pitting and nicks throughout. Bore shows significant signs of use with both light and dark spots throughout and may clean better. 4-58254 (1,000-2,000)
