REMINGTON MODEL 1888 SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 219. Nickel finish with 5-3/4” rnd bbl, with “E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.” bbl address and “44” on left rear web of triggerguard. Fitted with very old 2-pc ivory grips. Scarce revolver as only about 1,000 were ever made in period 1888-1889. CONDITION: Good to very good. Overall retains 75-80% strong, orig nickel with loss areas a dark patina with some pitting on frame & triggerguard. Left side of muzzle shows substantial wear & front sight has been slightly altered. The tip of cyl pin is broken and latch spring is missing. Ejector rod housing screw is battered. Grips have chipped toes with left side missing a small wedge at bottom. Will not hold at half cock, otherwise mechanics are fine. Worn, dark bore. The ejector rod housing screw is drilled into the bore and tip of the web, next to frame, is missing below locator pin. Baldwin Collection 4-30013 (3,500-5,500)
