*MAUSER DIPLOMAT MODEL 66 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. .458 Win mag. SN G17331. Beautiful sporting rifle with 25-1/2″ tapered rnd bbl, ramp front sight, missing the hood, and dovetail mounted folding rear sight. It has the sliding breech short action with sliding breech block. It has coin finished receiver with deep Germanic style engraving of a bull and cow moose in a woodland/marsh scene on left side with two grizzly bears in a mountain scene on the right side. It is mounted in very nicely figured, 1-pc walnut stock with a white line spacer at the forend tip, with the tip having been cut from orig stock blank. It has skip line checkered forestock and pistol grip with Monte Carlo cheek piece, 14-1/4″ over a brown Decelerator pad. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains about 98% strong orig blue with light muzzle edge wear and a few spots of pitting around the sight sleeve. Bolt handle shows high point wear and the sliding breech retains about all of its coin finish. Stock has a repaired chip in back of the receiver; otherwise the wood is sound and retains virtually all of its orig oil finish. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore. 4-58146 JR240 (1,250-1,750)
