*SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1903 A1 NATIONAL MATCH. Cal. 30. SN 1232262. This is an example of a 1903 A1 National Match that somehow got turned in the other direction while it was in Army storage. Rifle is a star gauged National Match dated “9-21” with the star gauge on the end of the bbl and the correct star gauge markings underneath the wood on the top of the bbl. Rifle is in a Mark 1 Springfield S-type stock with finger grooves and fine checkered buttplate. Also has a standard rear sight (not national match) with a standard rear hand guard that appears to be matching to the Mark 1 stock. CONDITION: Receiver retains 98% of an arsenal re-Parkerizing as does the bbl and rear sight sleeve. Rifle is equipped with a front sight hood and the bore, although bright, is pretty shot out. Front and middle bands appear to be retaining approx. 75% blue with either varnish or shellac over them. Trigger guard and floorplate assembly exhibit about 60% blue fading to patina also with a coating on them. Bolt is nickel/steel, polished bright, but is not numbered to the gun. Cocking piece and firing pin retainer are both of the same dark Parkerizing as the receiver. Mark 1 stock is in very good condition although somewhat rounded at the finger grooves and lacking a cartouche. Circle “P” is still very evident. Fine checkered buttplate, with trap, retains approx. 90% of its orig finish. Rear sight elevator knob is broken. 4-58245 (1,200-1,800)
