CASED PAIR OF UNIDENTIFIED BRASS FRAMED TARGET PISTOLS. NSN. 42 Cal. 6-5/16” part oct bbl. There are no markings or numbers on these pistols but the workmanship appears to be American. The long strap sight with adjusting screw in the tang suggests New England or New York manufacture. The large mahogany case has been adapted from another usage with maroon felt lining added to heavy partitions. The center compartment contains an oval two compartment flask with leather covering. One of the long compartments contains a 58 bore bullet mold. One of the triangular compartments contains a tin of Eley caps. The other compartments are empty. CONDITION: Brown patina mixed with light surface rust and pitting on the iron parts, mellow patina on the brass. Grips show minor wear. Mechanically fine. Wm. Hancock Collection 4-58584 (1,500-2,500)
