RARE SPANISH REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 43 Spanish. NSN. Standard carbine with 20-1/2” rnd bbl, pinched blade front sight, 2-position flip rear sight with a sling bar & ring in left side of receiver. Mounted with nicely figured, uncheckered, American walnut with tapered forearm, sgl band with spring keeper & straight stock with carbine buttplate. There is a small brass plate pinned to bottom of stock bearing the number “82”. Just below that is evidence of a sticker, probably from a museum, having once been applied with glue or some sort of shellac leaving a clean circle with a dark area around it. In 1873, the Spanish government bought 50,000 Remington Rolling Block rifles & carbines with the order being completed in 1875. They ultimately purchased 130,000 Remington Rolling Blocks. CONDITION: Exceedingly fine, as new, appears to be unfired. Retains virtually all of its orig factory finish to both metal & wood. It has slight, muzzle edge wear with some minor thinning to band & fading of case colors. Buttplate has flaked to a light blue/brown patina. Stock has a hairline back of both tangs with very minor handling & storage marks & overall retains most of its bright orig factory finish.
