*RARE REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK SMOKELESS POWDER MILITARY CARBINE. NSN. 7mm Mauser. 20-1/2” rnd bbl. The bbl is finished in the white and does not have the caliber marking on it. It is equipped with the short carbine sight and has a saddle ring mounted on the left side of the receiver and sling swivels mounted on the right side of the buttstock and bbl band. There are two screws through the marking on the upper tang. The buttplate is a flat piece of blued iron slightly smaller than the butt. This is an early prototype for the Model 1901 “Small Bore Military Carbine”. It was originally in the Remington factory museum and has their inventory number “42” on a brass tag on the bottom of the stock. It was sold or given to Edwin Pugsley of Winchester who gave it to Harry Siefred. The front sight blade has been replaced. CONDITION: Fine. 90% bright casehardening colors on the action and 80% blue on the screws, breechblock and hammer. Top hand guard has a long crack running from the rear sight almost to the bbl band.
