REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK NO. 1 SPORTING RIFLE.

REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK NO. 1 SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 44 RF Henry. SN 4169. Fine sporting rifle in a scarce caliber with a 28-1/4” oct bbl, German silver blade front sight & Remington’s tiny, semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has maker’s name & address on top flat & patent dates on left side of receiver. Mounted with nicely figured, uncheckered, slab sawed, American walnut with metal tip semi-schnable forearm & straight stock with semi-crescent buttplate. Provenance: San Diego Police Historical Association. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains about 90% strong orig blue with edge wear & a few scattered spots of light rust. Receiver & trigger guard retain most of their orig case colors, strong & bright in sheltered areas, fading elsewhere. Wood is sound with a gouge in forearm & light handling & use marks elsewhere with a series of light bruises in right side of buttstock. Overall retains most of its orig finish, bright on forearm, turned dark on buttstock. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore with some roughness just n front of chamber. 4-60167 JR370 (2,500-4,000)
