ENGRAVED REMINGTON HALF STOCK PERCUSSION MUZZLE LOADER RIFLE. Cal. About 38. NSN. Target rifle with 28” oct bbl with standard field sight plus adjustable peep sight & has set trigger. Bbl stamped “REMINGTON CAST STEEL”. Lock and all German silver hardware appear to be Remington, including patchbox, buttplate & triggerguard. Walnut stock & orig ramrod. Rifle was custom made by unknown gunsmith using Remington supplied parts. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains most of its orig fine brown with some dents, possibly vice marks on both sides and fine pitting around the bolster. Lockplate and hammer also retain a fine dark brown patina with some scattered light surface pitting. The German silver furniture retains a fine patina. Wood is sound with an orig clean oil finish and light handling and use marks. Mechanics are crisp. Fine strong bore with light pitting. 4-59361 JH2 (800-1,200)
