COLT MODEL 1861 RIFLE MUSKET. Cal. 58. NSN. 40” part oct bbl. Marked “U.S. / COLT’S PT F A. MFG CO / HARTFORD CT” on lockplate in front of hammer. Dated “1863” on tail of lock and top of bbl. Standard acceptance marks on left quarter flat of bbl. No inspector marks visible on stock. CONDITION: Even, brown patina with moderate to heavy pitting. Scattered dents and gouges on the wood, which has been previously cleaned. Mechanically good. Wm. Hancock Collection 4-58558 FS687 (1,500-2,000)
