REMPT OVER/UNDER COMBINATION HAMMER GUN. Cal. 12 ga./45(??) (Appears to have a long straight tapered case about 3-6/10″, could possibly be a 45-120 or 45-125). Beautiful German combination gun with 26-11/16″ bbls with Damascus shotgun bbl on top & steel rifle bbl below with flat matted solid rib, dovetailed front sight with 2-leaf express rear sight. Rib is marked in gold “GEBR: REMPT, SUHL”. Both sides of shotgun bbl have about 1-1/2″ of decorative gold inlay with corresponding gold figures on doll’s head with a wide & narrow gold band at breech end. Triggers are gold washed. It has a doll’s head rib extension with dbl lugs & extractors. Under lever action is small & rnd with peninsular back action locks, fantastically engraved with deep relief scenes of a running stag on left side of receiver, a running hound on left lockplate, a standing chamois on right side of receiver & a running raebuck on right lockplate, all with very fine stippled background. It is all surrounded by very well executed foliate & vine patterns. Lever has a deep relief engraved goose. Top of receiver has elaborate firing pin shields with very decorative rebounding hammers. Top tang has a recessed tang sight. Mounted with highly figured marble cake French walnut with elaborately carved wrap around forearm & deep relief carved round knob wrist on stock with cheekpiece, 13-3/4″ over a diamond & dot engraved steel buttplate. It has small European sling swivels. Bore restriction: – .000. Wall thickness: .032. Bore diameter: .719. Weight: 6 lbs. 7.36 oz. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Shotgun bbl retains 96-97% strong dark brown Damascus pattern with minor edge wear & some thinning over forearm. Rifle bbl retains 96-97% strong blue/brown. Receiver, lockplates & fittings are all silvered case colors. Wood is sound & retains most of a professionally restored finish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores. 4-57445 JR106 (4,000-6,000)
