*RARE COMPLETE BROWNING CENTENNIAL SET. This lot consists of four firearms and a set of three knives. Only 226 of these sets were ever made and most of them have been broken up and sold individually. This one has remained intact with matching serial numbers and orig boxes. (1) High Power. Cal 9mm. SN 1878D-0054. High polished chrome finish with 4-1/2″ bbl, fixed sights, gold-plated trigger and full checkered medallion walnut grips. Right side of slide is marked, “BROWNING CENTENNIAL /1878-1978”. Accompanied by its orig, red, velvet-lined, walnut, presentation case with a plaque on lid and its orig cardboard shipping box. CONDITION: New and unfired, case is equally new. (2) Model B92 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine. Cal 44 mag. SN 1878B-0054. Reproduction of a Winchester M92 with 20″ bbl, full magazine, square base front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Receiver has a staple and gold-plated ring in left side and a gold-plated trigger. Sides of receiver are lightly etch engraved with gold fill in “BROWNING / 1879-1978 / CENTENNIAL” inscription on left side. It is mounted with light colored, uncheckered walnut with straight stock and crescent buttplate. Accompanied by its orig Styrofoam lined 2-pc cardboard box. CONDITION: New and unfired with a tiny ding in bottom of forearm. Box shows light scuffing with edge wear. (3) Superposed Superlight Combination Set. SN 1878C-54. A continental rifle in cal 30-06 and a set of 20-gauge bbls. Rifle bbls are 24″ with ramp front sight and pedestal mounted folding rear sight. Shotgun bbls are 26-1/2″ with ventilated rib, choked FULL/MOD. It has ejectors and Browning gold plated single selective trigger. Receiver, trigger guard and forend iron are French gray finished with beautiful vignettes of a raised gold elk in a woodlands scene on left side and a raised gold partridge in a field scene on right side. Both vignettes are surrounded by foliate arabesque patterns with about full coverage, fine etched foliate arabesque patterns. Right side is signed, “R. Bee” for Rosa Bee, a relative of world famous and Browning master engraver Angelo Bee. It is mounted with beautiful burled French walnut with checkered schnable tipped forearm and straight stock 14-1/8″ over a Browning black composition buttplate. Accompanied by its orig heavy walnut red velvet-lined casing with recesses for assembled rifle and spare bbls. Also accompanying is its test target and owners manual. Also accompanying is orig Styrofoam lined 2-pc black cardboard box with orig cardboard shipping sleeve addressed to someone in Fergus Falls, MN with postmarks of August 1979. CONDITION: New and unfired. Case is new, box is new. (4) Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle. Cal 50. SN 1878A-0054. Fine percussion plains-type rifle with 30-3/4″ oct bbl, very highly figured French walnut half stock with iron furniture and two wedges. It has fixed sights with its orig ramrod and serpentine-shaped trigger guard/finger rest. Right side of stock has a white metal oval inlay marked , “BROWNING CENTENNIAL / 1878-1978”. Lockplate has bust of Jonathan Browning and thimble is in shape of a ram’s horn. Accompanied by its orig wood casing with leather corner reinforcements and a leather plaque on top marked “:BROWNING”. It is lined with gold ultra suede with recesses for rifle and inscribed powder horn and strap with a small wooden frame containing a combination tool and jags. Also accompanied by its orig owner’s manual and orig two-piece cardboard box. (5) Set of three Browning Stag Handled Pocket Knives. All numbered to this set with blades etched with a centennial marking. Accompanied by their orig red velvet lined wooden presentation box. CONDITION: New. 4-59114 JR471 (12,500-17,500)
