*LC SMITH FEATHERWEIGHT CROWN GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN FWE46448. Fine little dbl with 28″ bbls choked FULL/MOD with concave tapered matted rib single bead cross bolt rib extension ejectors & Hunter One-Trigger. Receiver & lockplates are beautifully engraved with large vignettes of 2 bird dogs in field scenes on each side surrounded by foliate & floral arabesque patterns with gold in laid crown on the opening pivot. Top tang has “S” in gold. Bottom of receiver has a large floral rosette around floor plate screw. Appended parts are engraved to match & the engraving extends about 1-3/4:” over chamber areas of the bbl. Right bbl is marked “L.C. SMITH CROWN GRADE” & left bbl is marked ” MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. FULTON. N.Y.”. It is mounted with very nicely figured streaky French walnut with full checkered, black insert splinter forearm & pistol-grip stock 14-5/16″ over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Bore restrictions: left – .018, right – .011. Wall thickness: left – .027, right – .029. Bore diameter: left – .596, right – .601. Weight: 6lbs 3.52oz. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbls retain an even smooth, plumy, blue/brown patina, thin over the forearm area. Receiver retains 25-30% case colors in the very sheltered areas & on the bottom with the balance turned silver. Lockplates are a silver metal color. Stock has a hairline back of the right lockplate, otherwise wood is sound & retains most of a fine professionally restored finish with a few minor nicks & scratches & freshened checkering.
