RARE COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER SHERIFF’S MODEL SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 121200. Blue & case colored with rare 4″ bbl, made without ejector rod. It has 2-line address with slightly altered front sight & etched panel on left side of bbl “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER”. It has 3-line patent dates & “44 CAL” on left front web of trigger guard. Fitted with very nice eagle rampant Colt hard rubber grips. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter fully identifying this revolver with 4″ bbl & hard rubber grips shipped Feb. 15, 1887 to Hartley & Graham, New York, NY in a shipment of two guns of same type. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbl retains most of its orig blue, thin on sides, strong & bright in sheltered areas with light muzzle edge wear. Etched panel is sharp & crisp. Cylinder retains 95-97% glossy bright orig blue with light edge wear & a scratch or two. Frame & hammer retain about all of their orig case colors, slightly faded on sides, brilliant in sheltered areas. Trigger guard & buttstrap retain virtually all of their glossy orig blue. Backstrap retains about 70% orig blue. Grips are fine with a minor chip or two & show moderate wear. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore with some light discoloration next to lands.
