RARE PARKER PH GRADE DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN.

RARE PARKER PH GRADE DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 8 bore. SN 148234. Built on a #6 frame, this massive waterfowl dbl with 36-1/16″ Damascus bbls has matted concave tapered rib that do not appear to have been cut as the bbls are touching at the end and has the small blank spot at the tip of the rib. Receiver has a couple of patterns of light arabesque engraving with a fine border. It has dbl triggers & extractors. Wood is straight grain American walnut with a checkered splinter forearm & capped pistol grip stock, 13-5/8″ over the hard rubber backing for an old recoil pad, the rubber is missing. Accompanied by a Parker letter identifying this shotgun as having been shipped August 6, 1908 to Dunham, Carrigan & Hayden Co. of San Francisco. It is listed as having had 40″ bbls with a 14-1/4″ LOP stock and weighed 15 lbs. 6 oz. and had a Silvers rubber butt & twin Lyman sights. Total cost was $110.00. It appears that the letter may be mistaken, as these bbls appear to be original. Weight: 13 lbs. 4.2 oz. CONDITION: Fine plus. Bbls retain about 95% dark brown Damascus pattern with minor nicks & scratches. Receiver retains 60-70% thin orig case colors. Trigger guard is a gray patina. Stock has a repair through the wrist, otherwise the wood is sound & retains most of the restored varnish on the stock while the forearm shows heavy wear & retains most of its restored finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores with some light scuffing in the right side. 5-60337 JR61 (2,500-5,000)
