*MAUSER PROTOTYPE LUFTWAFFE FIBERGLAS STOCK MODEL 98 RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. SN 1229e. Built on a 243 Code 1940 action with 24″ bbl, usual bbl bands, wiping rod, sight hood & sights. It has a “26” Waffenampt in three places on the receiver ring, twice on the bbl, and has a large Luftwaffe eagle on the left side of the bbl. It is mounted in a red-colored Fiberglas stock & handguard with aluminum sling slot and the Luftwaffe eagle with large “L” and a large & a small “210” Waffenampts all on the right side of the buttstock. Toe of the buttstock has another set of the “210” Waffenampts. Matching serial number & a small eagle back of the trigger guard. Workmanship appears somewhat crude. CONDITION: Very fine. Overall retains most of a fine restored finish to the metal with about all of its orig finish on the stock. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with some light orange peel pitting. 4-56798 (16,500-18,500)
