COLT CAVALRY MODEL SGL ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN 113996. Usual configuration with 7-1/2″ bbl, 1-line block letter address, 3-line patent markings & a “U.S” on the left side of the frame. It has 1-pc walnut grip with the outline of a cartouche on each side and two notches on the left edge. Frame, bottom of the bbl, cylinder & bottom of the grip have “DFC” sub-inspector initials. There is a small “G” below the serial number on the trigger guard. Accompanied by a Kopec letter in which he states that although this revolver is not specifically identified it appears that it was issued to one of the state militias and remained in storage, escaping the 1893 recall and modification to artillery configuration. He states that this revolver is orig in all respects and has remained in untouched condition. He identifies the cartouche on the left grip as that of Capt. Frank Heath and the outline of the one on the right side as David F. Clark. Also accompanied by a homemade holster, possibly made from an old boot top with a buck stitched rear edge and carpet tacks. CONDITION: Very good, all matching. Retains a mottled gray/brown patina with a few scattered spots of light surface rust and a series of small nicks on the right side of the bbl. Mechanics are fine although the cylinder pin could not be removed. It has strong bore with good shine and scattered light to moderate pitting. Holster is dry & crackled with staining & wear. 4-57426 (12,500-15,000)
