WESTERN LAW ENFORCEMENT CONNECTED COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER. Cal. 36. SN 175807. Historic Navy with 7-1/2″ oct bbl, 1-line New York U.S. America address with dashes. It has German, silver, Rocky Mountain, front sight added. It has brass grip frame with 1-pc ivory grip. It is accompanied by a framed document from the “PEACE JUSTICE COURT TOMBSTONE ARIZONA TERRITORY” dated 9 August 1884. The body of the document states, “Attached hereto and herewith- 1 Colt Navy type revolver Cal 36 Ser 175807 bearing ivory grips is the one and only the one used by Deputy United States Marshal Thos Lee Hood in the killing of stage robber one Wm. Tuckers which took place a Red Springs Creek in this Territory at noon on August sixth 1884 – Be it known” It is signed & stamped in three places with Wells Fargo ink stamps and also signed by Marshal Hood. CONDITION: Fine, all matching including the wedge except the rammer handle, which is unnumbered. Revolver retains 30-40% thin orig finish on the bbl mixed with dark brown patina. Frame retains traces of case colors in the sheltered areas. Cylinder is a medium brown patina with numerous nicks & dings and retains 25-30% Ormsby naval battle scene. Hand does not function properly and the wedge spring is detached, otherwise mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with scattered light pitting. Grips are extremely fine and retain a wonderful gold patina with several age lines in the butt. Framed document is yellowed with age and has a small tear but appears completely authentic & original. 4-57326 JR608 (8,000-10,000)
