*ALTERED WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30 WCF (30-30). SN 434488. 1908 production rifle that has been altered with the addition of a very late 20″ carbine bbl with ramp front sight & semi-buckhorn rear sight. Magazine has been reduced to 2/3 length & it has carbine forend with bbl band. It has nicely figured straight grain uncheckered American walnut wood with straight stock & crescent buttplate with rare brass sliding trap door. Receiver appears to be a fine factory restoration & the bbl has the dbl proof signifying outside sale. Accompanied by a rare Winchester style rifle case made of tan, hard-formed leather, 42″ overall length x 6″ wide x 3-1/2″ thick at the butt, probably for a rifle with 22″ bbl. It is slightly curved and has a brass lock with leather flap and is accompanied by the orig key. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl, magazine tube & receiver retain 95-96% strong factory blue. Lever & hammer retain about 75% orig case colors and the buttplate, traces of orig colors. Wood is sound & retains most of its fine factory finish with minor nicks & scratches and a series of small bruises on the right side of the wrist. Mechanics are crisp, very bright shiny bore with some heavy grease near the muzzle. Case is slightly soiled with a couple of paint spots with the flap & hinge slightly dry & crackled, but overall very fine condition. 4-55281 JR314 (500-1,000)
