INDIAN DECORATED SMITH & WESSON REVOLVER WITH SUPPOSED CONNECTION TO GERONIMO. Cal. 44. Serial number not visible. This is an American Model revolver, covered by rawhide on the grip with 4-7/8” ribbed bbl. Grips are covered about 80% with red & green painted rawhide, which is sewn on the bottom & the front strap & heavily tacked on the sides & bottom. It is accompanied by a rough hand-made belt & holster. Belt loops have been changed with lighter colored leather loops. This revolver is supposed to have belonged to Geronimo according to the consignor but there is nothing to confirm that. CONDITION: About half of the nickel remains on the bbl. Moderate rust & pitting on the sideplate. Leather covering on the grips is worn through about half way on the bottom, with some cuts on the backstrap. Mechanically needs adjustment. Two X-rays accompanying the pistol show that these are indeed tacks in the grips. Belt & holster are scuffed & stained but still supple. 4-55209 (4,000-7,000)
