SCARCE PARKER D-GRADE DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET.

SCARCE PARKER D-GRADE DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 10 ga. SN 92074. Built on a #2 frame with two sets of 28″ Damascus bbls, both orig length, with tapered matted ribs, single beads, the maker’s name & address and doll’s head extensions. The receiver & lockplates are beautifully engraved with standard D-grade patterns of bird dogs and pheasant on the lockplates and three pheasant on the bottom. The front end of the trigger plate has the patent date “March 27 1875” and a tiny pheasant just above the trigger guard. The engraving is all surrounded by about 50% coverage, fine foliate arabesque patterns with a delicate border. The fences are beautifully raised scalloped and it has the “S” shaped opening lever. The wood is beautifully grained Claro walnut with two checkered splinter forearms and round knob stock, 14-1/4″ over a thick-checkered hard rubber buttplate. The bottom of the stock has an oval silver-plate engraved “D. Hinckley” and the top of the wrist has a small silver shield engraved “DH”. The stock appears to be an exceptionally fine professionally built replacement. Bore restrictions: Bbl 1 left – .015, right – .001; Bbl 2 left – .022, right – .023. Drop at the heel 2-7/8″, drop at the comb 1-3/4″. CONDITION: Bbl #1 retains about 90% orig fine Damascus pattern with three or four scattered spots of light surface rust and some thinning over the forearm area. Bottom rib retains most of its Damascus pattern. Bright shiny bores. Bbl #2 retains virtually all of its fine brown Damascus pattern with some very slight thinning over the chamber areas. Brilliant shiny bores. Left lockplate retains about 85% strong orig case colors and the right about 60%. Receiver has case colors in sheltered areas as does the hammers with the balance turned silver. Trigger guard is a silver metal color. Wood is sound and retains virtually all of a fine professionally restored finish with minor nicks & scratches. Fine mechanics. 4-53996 JR58 (3,000-5,000)
