*WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 178466. Standard grade rifle with 24-1/4″ rnd bbl, full magazine, standard front sight with screw and flat top rear sight with a Lyman tang sight. It has uncheckered wood, nicely figured, with straight grip & crescent buttplate. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter fully identifying this rifle and indicating shipment on November 19, 1901 to order #121726. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl & magazine tube retain 93-95% dull orig blue with a few scattered chemical spots and some thinning toward the muzzle. Receiver retains 65-70% thin orig blue, strong in the sheltered areas, turned silver on the bottom and plum on the top. Wood is sound showing moderate to heavy wear on the forearm with a scrape on each side and retains mostly a dark oil finish. Buttstock has a repaired chip by the top tang with a series of bruises down the bottom and light nicks & scratches and retains about 95% orig varnish.
