DELUXE SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal.38 WCF (38-40). SN 107942. Beautiful early 3rd model with special order 26″ bbl. Standard front sight and a Lyman tang sight. It has case hardened receiver, plain trigger, highly figured, 2-3X walnut wood with “H” style checkered forearm and pistol grip with black fleur-de-lis insert and crescent buttplate with trap. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter fully identifying this rifle and indicating shipment June 23, 1883 to order #4839. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 93-95% strong bright orig blue with light edge wear. Magazine tube retains 40-50% blue with the balance a light plum patina. Receiver retains 15-20% case colors in the sheltered areas with the balance turned silver and with scattered spots of light surface rust. Lever & hammer retain case colors in sheltered areas. Stock has a hairline back of the top tang, otherwise the wood is sound with a series of small dings & scratches on the right side of the buttstock and numerous other small nicks & scratches elsewhere. Forearm is slightly shrunken and overall the wood retains about 90% orig varnish on the buttstock and about 75% on the forearm. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore with minor orange peel effect. 4-54886 JR207 (5,500-7,000)
