EARLY ETCHED PANEL COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 53279. Nickel finish with 7-1/2″ bbl with “COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER” in an etched panel on the left side of the bbl. The frame has 3-line patent markings and the caliber is stamped on the left front web of the trigger guard. It has orig 1-pc walnut grips. It has a 2nd type ejector rod housing with bull’s eye ejector rod head. The screws are niter blued. The bbl has the last four digits of the serial number underneath the ejector rod housing and there is a tiny “44” on the bottom of the bbl under the base pin. CONDITION: Very fine plus. All matching including cylinder & bbl, overall retains about 85% strong orig nickel-plating with scattered fine pinpoint rust like one would expect from long term storage in a holster. Screws retain generous amounts of orig blue with the cylinder pin & butt strap screws slightly battered. Grip is sound with edge wear and some hammer marks on the bottom and retains about 95% orig varnish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore and some very fine pitting near the muzzle. 4-55303 JR743 (10,000-15,000)
