WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. SN 116326. Standard grade rifle with 26″ oct bbl, full magazine, half-nickel front sight, flat top rear sight with a homemade elevator. The receiver is case colored and it is fitted with very nicely figured walnut forearm and straight grip stock with Winchester hard rubber shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains an even smooth plum/blue patina with scattered light spots of surface rust. Magazine retains about 95% dull orig blue with light surface spotting. Receiver retains 20-25% orig case colors, faded and mostly on the left side with the balance a light brown patina mixed with silvered case colors. Wood is sound with the forearm having numerous small nicks, scratches & dings with a couple of deep scratches and retains 30-40% thin orig varnish. Buttstock has a couple of light gouges and a few small nicks & scratches and a repaired chip at the wrist and retains about all of an old refinish. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore with some roughness in the grooves. 4-54888 JR226 (3,500-5,000)
