WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 RF Henry. SN 161048. Standard grade rifle with 24-1/4″ octagon bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight and short semi-buckhorn rear sight with checkered edges. It has uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap. It also has a steel forend tip. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbl retains about 70% orig blue, strong and bright in the sheltered areas turning plum over the forend area, thin over the chamber area. Magazine tube retains about 40% orig blue, primarily in the sheltered area with the bottom thin and turning plum. Receiver is very fine with good edges, some light hammer marks on the left sideplate and retains about 95% orig blue on the loading gate. Lever retains traces of orig dark case colors and the hammer about 75% thin case colors. Wood is sound with the forearm showing moderate to heavy wear, a couple of old worn gouges and a nice oiled patina. Buttstock has light handling & use marks and retains 75-80% orig varnish. Mechanics are crisp, strong bore with light to moderate pitting. 4-55306 JR738 (17,000-22,000)
