JENKS NAVAL CARBINE. Cal. 52. SN 8/41. 24-1/4” part octagonal bbl, marked “REMINGTON’S / HERKIMER / N.Y.” on the lockplate and “W. JENKS / U.S.N. / RP / P / 1847 / CAST STEEL” on the top flat at the rear of the bbl. The Maynard primer cover is not marked and the feed arm is missing. “RP” inspector cartouche is on the left side of the stock opposite the priming mechanism. CONDITION: 80% bright brown on the bbl, thinning at the rear, traces of casehardening color mixed with light surface rust and pitting on the lockplate. Wood has light handling marks with a sliver repair and consequent sanding on the left side of the forearm. Action is fine except for the priming mechanism. 4-52492 FS16 (3,000-4,000)
