UNUSUAL ENGRAVED KENDALL UNDERHAMMER RIFLE. Cal. 45. SN 563. 24” part octagonal bbl, marked “N. KENDALL / WINDSOR VT. / PATENT” on top of the bbl and “SMITH’S / IMPROVED / PATENT / STUD / LOCK” on the bbl tang. Besides the engraving on the bbl, tang, hammer and buttplate, this has a turned ring between the oct and round portions of the bbl. The stock has a black varnish finish. The inscription plate on the left side is blank. CONDITION: Fine with smooth gray patina mixed with scattered spots of light surface rust. Stock has numerous dents and scratches with minor chipping at the buttplate. Action is fine. 4-52616 FS58 (1,500-2,500)
