SPRINGFIELD 1873 TRAPDOOR LINE THROWING GUN. Cal 45-70 blank. SN 103041. WWII era line gun by the Coston Supply Co., of New York. Consists of a trapdoor rifle with 14” smooth bore bbl with Buffington rear sight in a cut down stock. Accompanied by an original Coston wooden carrying case that contains 8 brass projectiles, one canister of flax line, three winding spindles and 15-rounds of original Western Blank ammunition. Missing from the package is the fixture for attaching a line canister to the rifle, two canisters, two projectiles, solvent and cleaning equipment. Also accompanies is an original Coston 4-page pamphlet with a list of equipment and instructions. CONDITION: Rifle is as issued retaining most of its fine restored finish with a hairline by the front lockplate screw. The Coston pamphlet is yellowed stained and soiled with tape repairs, but is complete. Box is fine, nicked and soiled on the outside, otherwise fine. 4-50687 JR400 (750-1,250)
