*RARE GREENER MODEL L-60 SIDELOCK DBL BBLSHOTGUN. Cal 12ga. SN 56051. Wonderful and scarce Greener shotgun with 30” bbls, choked, IMP MOD/IMP MOD with concave tapered, smooth rib, and single bead. The rib is marked “W.W. GREENER MAKER. 68. HAYMARKET LONDON. WORKS ST MARY’S SQUARE. BURMINGHAM”. The bbls are marked “SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH’S/FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL”. The first part of the maker’s name and address on the rib has been re-engraved and the “N” in Greener was made into an “M”. The bbls are proofed 1-1/4 oz and have 2-5/8” chambers. The receiver and lockplates are beautifully engraved in extremely fine English Style foliate arabesque patterns with about 90% coverage. The lockplates have “W. W. GREENER” incorporated on each side. The locks are equipped with gold-lined cocked indicators. The fences have raised triple scallops and are effusively engraved to match the rest of the gun, and the frame has double raised scallops along the bottom edge that wrap around the front end of the lockplates. It has double triggers and ejectors with a top thumb safety and “SAFE” in gold. The water table, standing breech and bbl water table are all nicely jeweled. It is mounted in beautifully grained French walnut with full-checkered splinter forearm and straight stock 14” over an old Hawkins pad. The stock has raised teardrop side panels, and an oval gold initial plate near the toe. Weight 6 lbs 12.3 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbls retain 97-98% fine rust blue, probably an old re-black. Receiver is mostly silverered case colors with traces of color in sheltered areas. Lockplates retain about 50-60% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound and retains about all of an exceptionally fine professionally restored finish and freshened checkering. Fine mechanics and bright shiny bores. 4-50673 JR874 (6,000-10,000)
