WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SPECIAL ORDER DELUXE RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. SN 109754. Fine deluxe rifle with 26” rnd bbl, button magazine, with 3-4X wood, checkered forearm & pistol grip stock with crescent steel buttplate. It has an ivory bead Lyman front sight, an 1886 style ladder rear sight and a Lyman tang sight. It has case colored receiver. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet completely identifying this rifle and indicating that it was shipped 12/19/1896 to order #754. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains about 95% original blue with a slightly thinned area on the right side of the bbl and some light surface rust. Receiver retains 30-40% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. Bolt retains 96-97% strong original blue and the lever & hammer retain 50-60% dark case colors. Wood is sound and retains about 95% original piano finish with usual light handling and use marks & scratches with 2 or 3 small gouges on the buttstock and a couple of bruises on the forearm.
