RARE FREUND BROS MARKED SPENCER BUFFALO RIFLE.

RARE FREUND BROS MARKED SPENCER BUFFALO RIFLE. Cal appears to be 56-46. SN 34471. This rare rifle is fitted with a 29” medium weight oct bbl that has the muzzle turned for a false muzzle. It has a German silver blade Rocky mountain front sight with typical Freund semi buckhorn rear sight. The buttstock is from a carbine with the sling bar and ring remove. The forearm is custom made with a pewter tip. The left side of the receiver is beautifully engraved in simple block letters but obviously done by a professional, “WYOMING ARMORY/FREUND BRO’S/CHEYENNE WYO. T. U.S.A”. The left side of the buttstock has a tiny silver shield inlaid secured with three silver pins. CONDITION: About good. Bbl retains a medium mottled silver brown patina and the receiver is a silver brown patina. Buttstock has a crack at the buttplate. Otherwise the wood is sound showing heavy use with an old dark patina. Strong dark bore. A rare and historic rifle that undoubtedly saw frontier use in decimating the buffalo herds. 4-50507 JR176 (2,500-5,000)
