*CASED JOSEPH LANG & SON DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN TWO BARREL SET. Cal. 20ga. Beautiful box lock shotgun with two sets of bbls both 28”, one choked MOD/IMP CYL and the other FULL/IMP MOD. Both have 3” chambers with high, tapered, matted rib and single brass bead. Both are marked with the makers’ name and address on top of the bbls. One rib has a 6-pointed gold star at the breech end while the other does not. Bbls are dbl lump with dbl bite. Receiver has four tiny scallops at the back edge and has nearly full coverage extremely fine foliate arabesque pattern engraving. “Safe” in gold on the top tang. Forearm is extra long, beavertail with a through hole for access to the forearm release. Stock is checkered straight grip with teardrop side panels 14” over a checkered skeleton buttplate. It has a gold oval initial plate with the initials “RET”. It is equipped with ejectors and dbl triggers twisted for right hand. Weight is 5 lbs. 12.2oz. It is accompanied by its original brown leather trunk case with maroon felt lining and makers’ label in the lid and has compartments for both bbls and the stocked action with two nickeled oil bottles and a compartment for cleaning equipment. SN 20831. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Has been fired but retains virtually all the original blue on both sets of bbls. Receiver retains 97-98% bright case colors, slightly faded on the fences and edges. Wood is sound and retains most of its fine original finish. Brilliant shiny bores.
