HIGH GRADE INDIAN WAR PERIOD GENERAL OFFICER’S WAIST BELT AND PLATE. Dating to the period 1875 to 1890, this fine quality high grade officer’s dress waist belt is constructed of red Russian leather with three stripes of embroidered, gold bullion thread. Finely sewn, this belt was worn on dress occasions and has no sword or shoulder attachments. Attached is a jeweler’s quality U.S. Model 1851 officer’s belt plate. The back plate is of cast brass with gold wash having a finely stippled background. On top is a separately applied sterling silver eagle, wreath and stars according to regulation. CONDITION: Very good, belt shows only minor edge wear, leather is strong and flexible. The belt plate shows an uncleaned patina and is quite nice. 4-48717 (1,000-1,500)
