BURNSIDE 5TH MODEL CIVIL WAR CARBINE. Cal. 54 Perc. Usual configuration with 21” round bbl, pinched front sight, 2-position flip rear sight. Tiny forearm with one band and locking spring. Stock has straight grip with sling swivel and semi-crescent carbine buttplate. Usual markings. SN 29555. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains an even medium blue/brown patina. Receiver mostly a silver gray patina with hammer marks on the breech block and a chipped hammer nose. Slightly battered screws. Stock has a hairline back of top tang and back of the lockplate with a raised splinter by the top tang. Otherwise has a fine hand rubbed patina. Strong dark bore. 4-48647 JR665 (1,750-2,750)
